Peru Birdwatching Tours

Peru Birdwatching Tours–The fabled Peruvian bird-watching. If ever there was a lifetime experience—this is it. We like to do our birding trips a little different than the conventional birder operators. Your way, your adventure! So, immerse yourself in Peru that is uniquely yours. Add extra days or adjust locations to see what you want to see, the way you want to see it. Peru is one of the greatest countries on earth for bird lovers. The bird population in Peru is, incredibly, about 10% of the world’s total. With nearly 2,000 species of resident and migrant birds identified throughout Peru, great bird-watching sites abound.

Unlike other top-ranking Neotropical birding destinations, such as Ecuador, Colombia, and Costa Rica, Peru has vast tracts of forest and wilderness untouched by civilization; two-thirds of the Manu Biosphere reserve, for example, is completely unexplored, hosting un-contacted stone-age tribes as well as the birds, a dreamed destination for bird lovers.

We have crafted ideal itineraries that connect nature, culture, and history as one of the seven wonders of the world is here. A new and bestseller itinerary is the 5-day tour to Machu Picchu while birding, this gives you the chance to spot endemic birds, and you have high chances to spot the cock of the rock the national bird of Peru.

With our excellent field private guides, you won’t miss out on any important species, which will give a taste of what this country has in store not only for the exploring birder but of a relaxed nature to a mystical country with rich culture. Our trips are just a great place to be. Trips designed to unsurpassed scenery, a magnificent history, meeting friendly local people, impressive archaeological sites, stunning scenery, and great food–Peru Birdwatching Tours

Since 2014 and since the very first day of our operation, Peru Summit has been blazing new trails, new ways of experiencing in Cusco, Machu Picchu, and other destinations of our country. Our trailblazing is just one reason we are a uniquely qualified local company to ensure you have a trip of a lifetime.

Aditional Facts about this Trip

Number of bird species in Peru

1801 (As of May 2019) Officially registered.

Machu Picchu, Abra Malaga, Huayopata Cloud Forest

Most visitors to Peru visit the southeast of the country, attracted principally by the archaeological sites of the Inca civilization, and the city of Cusco is the starting point for trips in this area for birder and non-birder alike. Nearby Machu Picchu is the major tourist destination – and a nightmare for lovers of peace and solitude. However, the bamboo stands surrounding the ruins provide excellent opportunities for seeing the Inca Wren! Also, a walk along the tracks near the railroad station can produce species that are difficult to see elsewhere such as Sclater’s Tyrannulet and Oleaginous Hemispimgus; this is the place in Peru to see White-capped Dipper and Torrent Duck. From the town of Ollantaytambo, on the way to Machu Picchu, it is only two hours drive to one of the most accessible native Polylepis woodlands in the Andes, whilst the humid temperate forest of Abra Malaga is home for many endemics like Chestnut-breasted Mountain Finch,
White-tufted Sunbean, lower in the cloud forest you have a great opportunity to spot the Andean cock-of-the-rock–the national bird of Peru. If you are looking for some birdwatching tours that include endemics and iconic birds then this is the way to go, join us!
